A huge supercell was reported over Pomona in Franklin County. kansasis moving east toward Ottawa in Ottawa County. A tornado warning was issued for much of Ottawa and nearby areas, and residents were asked to seek shelter.

As the supercell moved east toward Ottawa, at 7:40 p.m. local time, a FOX 4 Kansas City meteorologist confirmed a tornado at 15 Eisenhower Road, Reporting by Jacob Lanier. Lanier said electrical flashes were reported in the tornado, suggesting the tornado may have impacted power lines.

Ottawa tornado path: Franklin to Ottawa

The tornado was first spotted in eastern Franklin County, in the suburbs of Pomona and Greenwood, which borders Ottawa County. Moving east into Ottawa, the first confirmed tornado was spotted near the University of Ottawa.

The tornado is expected to move further northeast, affecting areas such as Norwood and Lerup. Areas further east, such as Wellsville, Edgerton and areas north of Baldwin City, are not at risk.

KCMATalkRadio’s Pete Mundo shared a video from Johnson County, which is on the eastern edge of Ottawa County. “Lightning, calm, breeze… combined with yellow/green sky,” Mondo wrote in the video.
