On Pakistani minister’s warning of attack on Kolkata, Rajnath says ‘only God knows how many parts they will be divided into’

minister of defense Rajnath Singh In a strong rebuke to Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif’s recent remarks about an attack on Kolkata, Pakistan on Tuesday warned Islamabad that it should remember “55 years ago, they suffered the consequences of the split of Pakistan into two parts” and the creation of Bangladesh.“If they try to attack Bengal, they will get a befitting reply. Only God knows how many parts of them will be breached. Pakistan’s defense minister should not have made such a provocative statement,” Rajnath said during a roadshow in Barakpur, West Bengal. Only now, maybe some land has been given,” he said.Rajnath also sought to strike an emotional chord with Bengal voters by invoking the legacy of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and promising that the BJP government in the state would turn the litterateur’s ancestral home into a world-class tourist destination. He said that through ‘Vande Mataram’, Bankim Babu transformed the geography of India into an emotional bond. He said the so-called secular elements had fragmented “Vande Mataram” and it was still sung in an incomplete manner. TMC and communist leaders have always ignored the legacy of Bankim Babu, but for the first time, Prime Minister Modi has ensured that Bankim Babu’s legacy and ‘Vande Mataram’ get due respect in the country.“Mamataji, I want to give you a suggestion. Do politics, but don’t do politics of appeasement. Politics should be based on justice and humanity, fairness and equality,” Rajnath said, spelling out TMC as “complete misgovernment and corruption”.Rajnath said that while the entire country was progressing in terms of industry and investment, West Bengal was lagging behind. He mentioned that the people of West Bengal have made up their mind that in the elections, TMC will step down and the BJP will come to power. “A lot of grass added, Bengal Maange Kamal ka phoo.”He criticized the chief minister’s statement that the violence in Bengal was due to “Ram, Shyam and Varam” and claimed that while it may be attributed to the Left, it cannot be linked to “Ram” and “Shyam”. The state government has weakened the state’s economic profile to the extent that Bengal’s share of the national economy, which used to be around 10 per cent, has now fallen to just 6 per cent.
