US President Donald Trump has once again confirmed that a weapon he called a “scrambler” was used in the US military operation in Venezuela that led to the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro. In an interview with NBC News, Trump said he was not authorized to reveal details of the weapon but insisted it would render Venezuelan equipment inoperable. “The Discombobulator, well, I’m not allowed to talk about it. Let me tell you, do you know what it does? None of their devices work,” he said.Trump claimed that the operation was carried out with minimal resistance and caused no casualties. “You know, no shots were actually fired. You know, they’re ready,” he said, adding that the U.S. military “had no loss of personnel and we had no loss of equipment. “NBC paraphrased the president’s remarks, adding that “nothing worked, not even on humans,” to which Trump responded, “Well, it did something.”The US president described the operation as taking place in a “very difficult environment” at a military base, which he described as the largest in South America, and reiterated that US troops had not suffered any losses.Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Celia Flores were captured in a U.S. military operation on January 3, according to Trump, after the United States launched a “massive strike” against Venezuela early on Saturday.
