The local company has been sublicensed for the IPL rights for the period 2023 to 2027.JioStar cited financial issues behind the move, saying its partners “continue to fail to adhere to the payment schedules stipulated in the agreement.”The decision also applies to the Women’s Premier League (WPL), with the broadcaster ending arrangements for two matches in Bangladesh citing similar reasons. In August 2024, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country following a massive uprising in Dhaka, leading to political changes in Dhaka that strained relations between India and Bangladesh.Earlier in 2026, the initial broadcast ban was triggered by the controversy surrounding Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 920 crore. The team eventually released him as per BCCI’s instructions.
