New Delhi: The Diamond League athletics meet in Doha has been postponed for six weeks due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, with organizers prioritizing safety amid regional tensions. The event, originally scheduled for May 8, will now be held on June 19. Organizers made it clear that the postponement was due to concerns for the safety of athletes, officials and spectators.According to AFP, they said in a statement: “For the safety of athletes and spectators, it has been decided to postpone the meeting. If conditions permit, the meeting will be held on June 19.”In addition to the date change, the venue has also been moved from Qatar Sports Club to Khalifa International Stadium. The move is aimed at dealing with extreme weather conditions as the stadium is equipped with temperature control technology and has previously hosted major global events such as the World Athletics Championships and the FIFA World Cup.
