Naseem Shah ruled out of PSL after being fined PKR 20 million; PCB unhappy
New Delhi: It seems Pakistan’s star pacer Naseem Shah Trouble goes hand in hand. First, he was slapped with a hefty fine – narrowly escaping a ban – over comments he made about politicians on social media – and now there are new concerns over his health, keeping him out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).As well as behavioral issues, concerns over his fitness continued to grow, causing the displeasure of the Pakistan Cricket Board.Naseem may face legal action from the Pakistan Cricket Board over health issues and behaviour. He will need to undergo an extensive rehabilitation program under the supervision of a medical team.After a tweet criticizing Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, he was fined 20 million Pakistani rupees (approximately $72,000), believed to be the largest fine in Pakistan cricket history.Sources told www.telcomasia.net: “Naseem suffered a lateral strain during Thursday’s match against Karachi Kings in Rawalpindi and missed the team’s final match, raising serious questions about his fitness.”“Naseem’s rise has been hampered by his off-field behaviour, his excessive focus on commercials and podcasts, which derailed his career. He also missed the 2023 ODI World Cup due to health issues, which is a blemish on his career,” Asia Telecom Sports quoted a source as saying.“Naseem will appear before the medical panel under Dr Javed Mughal in the next few days as the selection committee is also unhappy with his frequent health issues,” the source added.Naseem was ruled out of the tour of Bangladesh after suffering an injury during Pakistan’s disappointing 2026 T20 World Cup campaign.He was also demoted to the ‘C’ category on the central contract list last year.
