Nancy Guthrie Case Update: A former FBI official warns “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie She and her family believe the suspects who kidnapped the 84-year-old man launched a “terrorist campaign.” Savannah recently dealt with several ransom notes received after Nancy disappeared. “I believe the two letters that we received and responded to, I’m inclined to believe that they are genuine,” she told Hoda Kotb in a “Today” interview last week.
Reports say the kidnappers demanded millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return. Former FBI official Jennifer Confindaffer noted that Savannah believes the two notes are authentic and may be Pima County police’s best lead yet in the case.
“The most important point Savannah Guthrie made in her interview with investigators: Two of the ransom notes were real! This is how the case was resolved. This may be the FBI’s #1 approach to solving the case,” Confindaffer wrote on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.
“This is an act of terror against the Guthrie family. Kidnapping, possible murder, torture for ransom, has no purpose other than to traumatize this family mentally. This is evil!”
Meanwhile, officials were forced to issue a statement after a body was discovered. scottsdale canal. Shortly after the discovery, rumors began to circulate, with some suggesting it might have something to do with Guthrie’s disappearance.
“This has nothing to do with the Nancy Guthrie case,” police said.
The discovery came on the morning of March 28, when a pedestrian discovered the body of a woman in a canal near Indian Bend and Hayden Road in Scottsdale.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, police and fire personnel were called to the scene around 8 a.m. to launch a full death investigation.
“On March 28, the body of an adult female was found in a canal near Indian Bend Road and Hayden Road, and a death investigation is underway. Police and fire personnel were first called to the area around 8 a.m. after someone walking along the canal saw the body in the water.”
Authorities coordinated with other agencies to recover the bodies and began examining the scene.
“Police and fire personnel, in coordination with the SRP and CAP, recovered the body from the water and began a death investigation.”
“Due to the condition of the body, investigators were initially unable to confirm the presence of traumatic injuries. The investigation remains in its early stages and detectives are working to confirm the identity of the individual and how they ended up in the canal.”
