JonBenet Ramsey’s father, John Ramsey, shares his heart with family Nancy Guthriehas been missing for more than three months. On the May 20 episode of NewsNation’s “The Brian Entin Investigation,” host Brian Entin sat down with Ramsey and noted that he “can understand this in a way that almost no one else can.” Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today Show” anchor Savannah Guthrie She was last seen at her home in Arizona on January 31 and was reported missing the next day. So far, no suspects have been named in the case. As Savannah and her siblings continue to wait desperately for answers, Ramsey has experienced the pain firsthand as no one has been charged in his daughter’s 1996 murder.
In the interview, Ramsey compared the early handling of the Nancy Guthrie investigation to the circumstances of the JonBenét case. Ramsey said that in the early stages of the investigation into his daughter’s murder, “the police did not seek help from those who knew what they were doing.”
Pointing to friction between local law enforcement and federal agencies, he said: “There seems to be some fighting between the Sheriff and the FBI, and the Sheriff kind of wants to handle this on his own. My question is, why not get the FBI involved?”
Ramsey also said he sees similarities between the current investigation and that of JonBenet’s murder. “As far as we were concerned, a lot of help was offered, and it was qualified help. It was all turned down,” Ramsay claimed.
Ramsey advised the Guthrie family not to assume investigators are doing everything they can with the case.
“Don’t assume the police are doing the best they can. They may, but don’t assume they know what they’re doing. They may, but don’t assume that,” Ramsey said. TV Insider.
He also encouraged families to pay close attention to the investigation and ask questions, including, “What’s the status of the DNA? Does your DNA not match anyone in the family? What do you do with it?”
Ramsey told the family to “have an advocate” and urged investigators to “marshal every resource they can” to help solve the case.
Police departments “can’t be good at everything,” he explained, adding that outside help can be important during such investigations.
Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance drew widespread public attention, with crowds flocking to her neighborhood to view her house, disrupting residents and prompting increased police presence. A driver allegedly drove by the home nearly 100 times carrying a photo of the missing woman and was even arrested, the New York Post reported.
Security measures at the hotel have been tightened over time. AZCentral reports that a security system, “no trespassing” signs and trespass warnings were put in place in February, according to Men’s Journal. Recently, videos posted on X showed poles, chains and towers blocking driveways with “No Trespassing on Private Property” signs.
As of now, there has been no breakthrough in the Nancy Guthrie case and the investigation is still ongoing.
