More than three months have passed Guthrie is missing Neither the Pima County Sheriff’s Department nor the FBI have publicly named any suspects. Guthrie also remains missing, but the FBI did release video footage of a masked man in the octogenarian’s home.

The man was seen wearing gloves and carrying a black Ozark Trail backpack. The man is reportedly male, between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with an average build. FBI.

Retired FBI profiler Jim Clemente claims there is a way to identify the suspect based on his video footage. Clement, who has worked for the FBI for 22 years, pointed out some of the masked man’s mistakes.

The man was supposed to have scouted the site beforehand but had to block the camera view of Guthrie’s Nest with leaves. The person also may have lost facial hair through the ski mask, according to the former FBI agent.

“In doing so, I believe he exposed what appears to be a tattoo on his wrist, which would not have been exposed if he had been fully prepared for the presence of the camera,” Clement noted. “So that tells me that he is not a sophisticated criminal. He was a bit clumsy in this matter and he made other mistakes that I believe would have led directly to his arrest,” he added.

Clement added that the fact that the FBI was able to recover the video may have come as a shock to the kidnappers even though the camera wasn’t there when officers showed up at Guthrie’s home. The former FBI profiler then dropped the bombshell, pointing out that the shock could be seen by those around the kidnapper.

“Because of all the mistakes this man made, because of his incompetence and unprofessional behavior in this area, I believe he was exhibiting a lot of stress when these images were first released,” Clement said, adding, “Anyone around him should have noticed the change in behavior and possibly recognize him as a result.”
