Nancy Guthrie Update: Drivers’ careless mistakes could lead to arrests, experts say

Jon Buehler, a retired Modesto Police Department detective involved in Lachie Peterson’s case, said the investigation could still lead to an arrest.

In an interview with NewsNation reporter Brian Entin, Buller said modern vehicles help track the operation, meaning would-be kidnappers can be more easily identified if they are looking for Nancy’s address.

“If someone plugged her address into a Google search on Google Maps or anything, if they did a reverse keyword search on it because those records are kept for a period of time to look at anyone who randomly put in her address and there was a reason to do that, then you would contact that person and find out why you entered that address,” the former detective said.

Earlier, authorities recorded a public doorbell camera recording of a masked man and submitted DNA The samples were analyzed at the FBI laboratory in Quantico.

Buhler further emphasized that tracking the vehicle could help exclude or focus on individuals, including delivery personnel, who have legitimate reasons to visit Nancy’s residence. Similar to other crime experts, he speculated that local businessmen or service providers may have been involved in the alleged kidnapping after discovering Nancy’s connection to a famous television personality.

The former police officer remains hopeful that the case will eventually be solved, even if it takes a long time. He also mentioned that investigators may already have clues to solving the case; it’s just a matter of time.
