pima county The Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) has issued a new missing person alert for 75-year-old Michael Lowther. Meanwhile, investigators are still searching for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, who disappeared more than a month ago.

Local officials have not said whether the two cases are related, but the timing raises concerns as the search remains unsolved after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home early on Feb. 1.

Disappearance of Michael Lowther sparks concern
The disappearance of Michael Lowther has sparked new concerns about missing vulnerable adults. Tucson area, while Nancy’s investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been identified.
The elderly man was last seen riding an electric scooter near the La Cañada Drive and Magee Road areas of Tucson, according to a Sheriff’s Office alert shared on social media. Lowther is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds.
According to information provided by PCSD, Lowther was last seen traveling to Canada at 7:30 a.m. wearing jeans, sneakers and a gray hoodie. The hoodie says Arizona in white lettering.
After Lowther was reported missing, PCSD urged the public to contact 9-1-1 with any information about Lowther.

Nancy Guthrie’s case extends beyond Arizona
Meanwhile, the Guthrie case has spread beyond Arizona. Volunteer groups and Mexican activists reportedly began searching along the U.S.-Mexico border after receiving an anonymous tip that she may have been transported across the border.
However, no evidence has been found to support this theory, and reports received by the Mexican group have not been confirmed by the U.S. government. FBI or PCSD.
Authorities continue to analyze surveillance footage, digital data and forensic evidence collected from the scene. More than five weeks after Nancy Guthrie disappeared, investigators say they are still pursuing multiple leads but acknowledge the case remains unsolved.
Federal officials are reportedly investigating whether there is a connection between Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance and an internet outage her neighbors in Tucson, Arizona, noticed before she disappeared.
