Nancy Guthrie: Is Tommaso Cioni no longer teaching? Mystery about Anne’s husband’s whereabouts deepens; former FBI gets involved

looking for Nancy Guthrie The case is still ongoing, but more recently there has been interest in the whereabouts of daughter Annie Guthrie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni. Previously, self-proclaimed investigator Jonathan Lee Riches claimed that one of their neighbors had said that the two had Haven’t seen you for more than a weektheir vehicle was not found.

Now, former FBI agent Jennifer Coffendaver claims Tommaso Cione’s name was not listed as a teacher at Basis Oro Valley Schools. “It has been reported that Annie and Tommaso have not been found. I personally checked at BASIS Oro Valley School where Tommaso teaches 6th grade biology. I do not see his name listed as a teacher…” the former FBI agent wrote on X. HT.com cannot independently verify this information.

Anne and Tommaso have been at the center of public attention since the disappearance of 84-year-old Anne. Authorities believe Guthrie was taken the night before Feb. 1 from her home in Catalina Foothills, Tucson, Arizona. Guthrie reportedly had dinner with Anne that night and then Tommaso gave her a ride home. That would make the two men the last people to see Guthrie before she was taken away. Interest in Tommaso began when former NewsNation reporter Ashleigh Banfield reported that Tommaso was a possible suspect in the case. However, this claim was quickly rescinded by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which handled the case.

Sheriff Chris Nanos later clarified that no members of the Guthrie family were suspects in the case. However, interest in Annie and Tomasso continued because they lived near the Guthrie home and law enforcement was slow to return their vehicle, which had been impounded to collect potential evidence. Amid the speculation surrounding the pair, Anne’s sister and “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie expressed her full support, saying they both loved Guthrie very much.

However, Pima County Sheriff’s Department officials, Sgt. Aaron Cross In a recent interview with NewsNation’s Brian Entin, he expressed doubts about the Guthrie family’s version of events. While reporters noted that the Guthrie family had been asking that the case be treated as a walk-on, Cross said they had “insisted” from the beginning that Guthrie was simply lost. Among them, it was noted that Savannah told NBC colleague Hoda Kotb that Annie and Tommaso had said there was no way Guthrie was lost. This brought the couple’s announcement into focus of existing interest in the pair.

Right now, there’s no update on where Anne Guthrie and Tommaso Cione may be, but former FBI agent Coffin Duffer has weighed in on the situation, sharing expert insight.

What a former FBI agent says about Annie and Tommaso

Coffendaver speculated that Tommaso may have taken a leave of absence or that the school was “concerned” about listing his name due to the speculation surrounding him.

“I don’t see his name listed as a teacher, but maybe he’s on leave or the school is worried about listing his name because millions of people still believe he kidnapped his mother-in-law of 20 years,” she wrote.

“Regardless, this action shows that Tommaso has been compromised. If anyone else discovers that he was listed for this school year, please LMK,” the former FBI agent added.

Speaking about possible reasons for keeping a low profile, Coffendaver said: “I think there’s an obvious concern about ridicule, but it could also be this: Defamation lawsuits: In most states, including Arizona, people have to prove that a lie was fabricated, such as being accused of a crime, and that the person suffered damages.”

She laid out the losses Anne and Tommaso could face as a result of constant public speculation. “Have their jobs been affected by the reputation, public ridicule and accusations that, not that they killed a stranger, but worse, that they kidnapped/killed their mother? His name not being on the faculty list could be a sign,” she wrote.

Coffendaver added that Anne was listed as a poetry teacher at the University of Arizona, noting that their son must also be going through a rough time because of the noise around his parents. “The bottom line is that if a lawsuit is brought against those who say they are responsible for what happened to Nancy, if they had nothing to do with the crime, then the harm they have suffered will be fully considered. In my view, their low profile, the lack of band appearances, the impact it may have had on their income from work and what their children may have gone through will all be part of a damages lawsuit,” Coffindaffer added.

The former FBI agent asked: “Is Anne and Tomasso’s low profile actually a beacon of the extent of their damage and their plans?”
