Masked man seen in surveillance photos and videos during search Nancy Guthrie Sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News that she appeared to have shown up at the 84-year-old’s front door as early as the evening of February 1 and police believed she had been kidnapped. The source added that a photo released by the FBI showing Nancy at her front door without a backpack was taken by her Nest doorbell camera the day before her alleged kidnapping.

The FBI said the photo of the man wearing the backpack was from “the morning of her disappearance,” Sunday, February 1. On this day, Nancy was unable to attend the virtual church service.
According to one theory, the suspect first approached the door and was scared away when he noticed the camera, sources said. However, he later returned when he was seen tampering with the equipment and placing tree branches in front of the camera.

However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the information did not come from him or the FBI. “The information that this incident occurred on another day does not come from the FBI or PCSD,” he told fox news.
Former FBI agent Jason Parker told ABC News that if it was the same person, “that could be an indication that the person was monitoring the location before the kidnapping occurred.”
He added: “The fact that this was prepared and planned makes it more of a sophisticated crime rather than one that sprang up out of the blue.”
