Top Iranian government official rejects U.S. claims about supreme leader’s health Mojtaba Khamenei and said he was healthy.Ayatollah Mohsin Qumi, a member of the expert group and deputy for international affairs in the Office of the Supreme Leader of Iran, said that Western countries are using this trick to elicit their reactions and spread rumors.
“Some people ask about the health of leader Ayatollah Seyyed Khamenei. This is a trick used by enemies, they want to say, ‘Why is he not present? Why is he not sending audio or video messages?'” Fars news agency quoted him as saying.“Why don’t the people who visited him come forward and speak? They want to use these issues to force us to react so they can achieve their goals,” he added.Qomi also confirmed that Mojtaba Khamenei was in the bombed building but was eventually rescued.“He was in that bombed building where others were martyred. Just minutes before the explosion, by God’s will, he walked into the courtyard. God wanted him to be preserved,” he said.“Currently, he is in good health and actively managing affairs. He is responsible for matters related to negotiations and field operations under direct supervision. Recently, he even issued specific instructions to the negotiating team on what actions should be taken in various situations. He has complete control over the situation,” Kumi added, according to Fars news agency.Qomi said that despite his injuries, Iranian officials were now focused on protecting the life of the supreme leader.“The most important issue for us right now is to help protect the life of His Excellency the Leader, who is currently a testament to God’s presence on earth. I assure you that despite the injuries he sustained there, God Almighty still considers him a treasure of Shias,” he said.Meanwhile, multiple U.S. media reports said Khamenei faces serious medical challenges after surviving a bomb attack, raising questions about his ability to take full control as the country grapples with war and fragile ceasefire talks.According to the New York Times, Khamenei underwent surgery on his hands and suffered severe facial burns. He was injured during the strike and is waiting for prosthetic limbs to be installed. While he was still mentally capable of making decisions, his physical condition severely limited his direct involvement. The New York Times reported earlier that Mojtaba Khamenei has largely disappeared from public view following an airstrike on the residence of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on February 28. The attack also killed his wife and son.
