‘I have said so’: Rahul Gandhi claims LPG prices increased by 81% in 3 months; launches swipe at Center over inflation

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi The Center on Friday launched a blistering attack on rising inflation, marking a sharp rise in commercial LPG cylinder prices, including a single-day jump of Rs 993.this congressional leaders said he had earlier warned that inflationary pressures would rise after the polls and pointed to what he called a sharp rise in interest rates.Rahul Gandhi posted on X that the price of a commercial gas cylinder increased by Rs 993 in a single day, calling it the largest increase in a single day. He further claimed that the price has increased by Rs 1,380 from February till now, which he said has increased by 81% in three months.“I said that inflation will increase after elections. Today, a commercial gas cylinder is more expensive by Rs 993. The highest increase in a single day. This is the election bill. From February to now: increase of Rs 1,380, 81% increase in just 3 months,”He said small businesses such as tea stalls, dhabas, hotels, bakeries and sweet shops will be affected, as will household expenses.“Tea stalls, dhabas, hotels, bakeries, sweet shops – the burden on everyone’s kitchen has increased. This will also affect your plate. Strike gas first, petrol-diesel next time,”Earlier on Tuesday, he had also claimed that the government would increase oil prices after the polling phase in several states including West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.Continuing his scathing criticism of the Centre, Rahul Gandhi said, “Electoral relief is over and the heat of inflation is coming! After April 29, be careful – petrol, diesel, everything will become expensive. When oil was cheap, the Modi government pocketed the profits. Now that oil is expensive, it will pass the burden on to you. The government looted when it was cheap and made the public bear the brunt of inflation”.
