Jennings served McConnellsaid he had communicated with the longtime Republican former Senate leader, who remains hospitalized.

McConnell’s allies within Republican Senate leadership insist he will return to work despite a lack of recent updates from his office on McConnell’s health. However, the senator’s critics have begun to question the accuracy of reports about his condition.

Here’s what Jennings told Mitch McConnell

On Tuesday, Jennings mentioned that he and McConnell A variety of topics were discussed, such as the recent sexual assault allegations affecting Maine’s Senate race and the ceasefire agreement with Iran.

“He’s still recovering in the hospital,” Jennings said. “I told him we wanted to see him back at work as soon as possible.”

Laura Loomer’s shocking claims

Monday, Laura Loomer Maga Activists join the conversation. Loomer, a far-right conspiracy theorist with a well-known history of racist rhetoric and endorsing idiosyncratic lies, said on Twitter that a “highly placed source close to the White House” had revealed to her that the Kentucky senator was “brain dead” and “will not be returning” to Washington.

Loomer’s credibility challenges have been widely recognized, but her ties to Donald Trump’s administration are equally important. She helped Trump remove people she deemed disloyal from the National Security Council last year and was last seen in the White House last month.

Senator McConnell’s spokesperson speaks out

“Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he has received as he continues to recover in the hospital. The senator’s condition continues to improve and he is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters during the Senate recess,” a representative from his office told last week.

On June 14, paramedics who arrived at his residence said they performed CPR on a man who was in cardiac arrest, according to dispatch audio obtained by The Washington Post.

Will McConnell resign?

If McConnell’s latest health emergency precedes his sudden exit from the Senate, the urgent need to fill his position with a special election could create another challenge for Republican leadership in the midterm elections.
