Mint Mobile is experiencing a service outage, affecting thousands of users across the United States. Many customers reported that their phones switched to SOS mode, displaying “Emergency Calls Only,” preventing them from using regular cellular service. The outage comes amid a wider T-Mobile outage affecting customers across the country.

According to DownDetector , reports of Mint Mobile outages started coming in around 4:30 pm ET on Monday. Many users said their phones suddenly switched to SOS mode, preventing them from making calls or sending text messages.
Reports came from across the U.S., including New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, California, Missouri and New York, with customers describing issues ranging from signal loss to the inability to access mobile data.
One user reported: “Texting on my t9 phone is also out. Internet on T-Mobile seems to be working fine, but mint Mobile on sw mo is offline.”
Another added: “My service is out as well. Emergency calls, no data. Ironically my kids are also on mint at my house and their workplace.”
A third user wrote: “In La Habra, CA…went to Fullerton Placentia and ended up in Anaheim, still no service.”
Another frustrated customer reported: “There is only an emergency line for Richmond, VA. I’ve been hung up on 6 times and haven’t been contacted and have been chatting for over an hour. No one has responded.”
Another person wrote: “Is this a new cell phone issue? My phone is stuck in SOS no matter where I drive. I have no signal anywhere in Charleston SC.”
Mint Mobile has not confirmed the outage or provided an estimated timetable for restoring service.
T-Mobile outage
The Mint Mobile outage report comes as T-Mobile customers across the country also report widespread service issues. According to DownDetector, T-Mobile outage reports began to spike around 4:15 pm ET on Monday.
Customers in states such as California, New Jersey, Washington, Utah, Florida, Minnesota, and New York reported issues. As of 6 p.m. ET, DownDetector had received more than 80,000 outage reports related to the T-Mobile service outage.
