Mott frequently missed scheduled court dates. During his violent crimes, he was arrested for DUI, hit-and-run, trespassing, public affray, violation of a protective order and multiple instances of resisting arrest.

Mott was jailed at least three times in 2017, including once on charges of trying to escape.

Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said at a news conference that a suicide note had not been found after Mott’s death. “We’re currently looking for any notes, computers or anything like that to try to figure out where he’s been recently,” Thomas said.
