After the first couple’s introductory remarks, Melania Trump answered multiple inquiries from the media before attending an Easter egg roll celebration with his family and children. While most questions were directed at Trump regarding the Iran war, a reporter asked the first lady one final question.

The first lady continued: “So they will be safe for years to come.” Melania said the war will ultimately benefit children.

Her remarks came after Trump answered a question about the war with Iran during a 1 p.m. ET news conference on the current conflict. He mentioned that he was in talks with Iran’s new government, while also insisting that the Iranian people supported the war.

Melania Trump’s comments raised eyebrows among some social media users, with many condemning her remarks.

“When these kids remember, they will think of us as evil killers of all Americans. The image in their minds will be their memory forever until they die. We are not doing anything better. We are just stirring up a hornet’s nest that will get bigger,” one person wrote.

Another said: “Then send Barron Trump to support this noble cause. Children in war zones are our resistance fighters and we dare not judge them.”

During a press conference, President Trump made a bizarre claim, saying: “The Iranian people, they get upset when they don’t hear the bombs go off. They want to hear the bombs go off because they want to be free.”

The announcement comes amid declining approval ratings for the president amid the conflict in Iran, which has pushed the national average gas price above $4 a gallon, according to AAA’s daily fuel price tracker.
