The post attracted attention online as U.S. visa appointments continue to experience long delays in several countries.

The applicant discussed her visa approval in the post and described the interview process as surprisingly smooth.

“us visa officially recognized. The US tourist visa was approved today! ” she wrote.

She explained that she was a 25-year-old medical student from the Philippines who was completely financially dependent on her parents. According to her, the interview felt relaxed and informal.

Medical students share questions asked during interviews

The student also shared specific questions that U.S. consular officials asked her during her studies. B1/B2 visa interview. She describes the process as “calm” and simple.

Questions include:

  • Her purpose in coming to the United States
  • who she travels with
  • her parents’ occupations
  • Her previous international travel history
  • Her intended medical specialty
  • Details about her medical school
  • Does she have any relatives in the United States and what do they do?

She noted that no supporting documents were requested during the interview.

“No documents were asked of me. I just answered honestly and tried to sound confident,” she wrote.

“Keep calm and answer firmly”

The applicant also provided informal advice to others preparing for similar visa interviews.

“Tip: Stay calm and let the consul know you are excited about the trip hahaha. Answer firmly!” she added.

She said she shared her experience to help future applicants, noting that reading similar posts helped ease her pre-interview anxiety.

The post gained attention, with users congratulating her and asking follow-up questions in the comments.

One user asked if he could message her for guidance, while another asked about the cost of medical education in the Philippines. “Out of curiosity, how much does medical school cost in the Philippines?”

The viral post comes amid continued delays in U.S. tourist visa appointments in India. Data from the U.S. State Department shows that in cities such as Hyderabad and Mumbai, the average waiting time for a B1/B2 tourist visa has been as high as 9.5 months.

Other consulates, including New Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata, reported shorter but still long wait times.
