The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said a temporary evacuation zone has been established at Mission Hills High School, 1 Mission Hills Court, San Marcos. “If you live in San Marcos, please be aware of increased law enforcement and firefighting activity,” the update reads.
CSUSM issued an alert that read: “Main Campus Evacuation – Do not leave campus via Campus View and La Moree. Follow all police instructions. Do not come to campus.”

The fire was burning from East Barham Drive in the northwest to La Moree Road in the southeast. The California State University San Marcos campus runs from South Twin Valley Road to just south of the intersection of Barham Road and East Mission Road.
