The Syrian-American artist and illustrator reportedly showed up at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday before boarding a flight to Palma de Mallorca. The trip drew attention because it took place just days before Fourth of July events. While Duvaj attended an overseas retreat, Mamdani stayed in New York to attend official city events related to the United States’ Bi50th anniversary celebrations.
