'Galti se ho gaya': Son flippantly answers why he shot father, dismembered body - WATCH

New Delhi: The 21-year-old son who shot and chopped his father’s body after a heated argument said “it happened by mistake”.When asked about his story, Akshat, a BBA student from Lucknow, said just four words: “Galti se ho gaya”. The 21-year-old from Lucknow was pressured by his father to pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam. In a fit of excitement, the man grabbed a licensed rifle owned by his father and shot him on the spot. His sister was also at the residence and the man threatened to keep quiet. The accused himself filed a missing person complaint for his 49-year-old father on February 20, and the case came to light a few days later. Investigators said the complaint was an effort to deflect suspicion.Investigators said the defendants then dragged the body from the third floor to the first floor, where they dismembered it. Some of the body parts were reportedly transported in his car and dumped in Sadlawna, while the torso was hidden in a plastic barrel at the residence. The head has not been recovered.Police raided the house where the defendant was detained on Monday night and found the drum containing the mutilated remains.Forensic teams have since been examining bloodstains found in the house and vehicle. The search continues in Sadlawna to find missing body parts and reconstruct the sequence of events.“He was disposing of parts of the body when we got involved,” a police source said, adding that ongoing questioning had exposed inconsistencies in his account.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Vikrant Vir confirmed that rigorous interrogation led to the breakthrough in the case. Authorities are continuing forensic analysis and witness examinations as the investigation progresses.
