YouTuber and wwe Star Logan Paul He’s facing new backlash after he mocked One Piece fans who were unhappy with his six-figure purchase of rare One Piece and Dragon Ball comics. The row intensified when Paul laughed off their criticism, telling fans they had no right to “gate” content, adding that he wouldn’t be “concerned” about their complaints.
Paul recently revealed that he spent around $550,000 on extremely rare first-issue comics, including Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball, which have a 9.2 rating. one piece Chapter 1 is rated 9.0. Many people in the animation industry immediately accused him of being a “fake fan” and a “lazy”, saying that he only bought these books to make money by flipping through them and bragging online.
“He’s not even a real One Piece fan, he’s just trying to make money off our hobby,” one fan wrote. Another added, “That’s exactly what scalpers do; they see our passion and try to turn it around.”
Some fans also pointed out a video clip in which Paul fumbled for the main character’s name, saying, “Shout out to L.D. Monkey,” before someone corrected him, “Monkey D. Luffy.” Viewers said it proved they didn’t really care about the show, with one comment saying: “Don’t call yourself a fan if you can’t even name the main character correctly.”
When Paul was pressed on the podcast about the backlash, he said, “I just don’t know how worried I should be about it.” He claimed that he loves the One Piece community, telling fans, “One Piece community, please don’t take this personally. I really like you guys and God bless you.” He also argued that he was just investing in the collectible, saying, “If you’re upset that I bought a few comics, that’s your responsibility.”
Many fans were unconvinced. One user said: “He’s treating our sacred franchise like a toy and then acting like we’re the ones doing the drama.” Another commented: “At least admit you’re doing this for clout and money and stop pretending you’re one of us.” The conflict has turned into a larger debate about celebrities entering niche fandoms, with some fans asking: “If he doesn’t respect the community, why buy their comics in the first place?”
