Nancy Guthrie Update: Pima County police cast doubt on Annie, Tommaso Sione’s statements in kidnapping case

Pima County Sheriff’s Department officer, Sgt. Aaron Cross is sharing about Nancy Guthrie case. Notably, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office took over the case after the 84-year-old “Today” host’s mother took over the case. Savannah Guthrie Reported missing on February 1st.

Authorities believe she was taken the night before from her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona. More than three months later, the Sheriff’s Office has yet to release the names of any suspects. Cross, meanwhile, disputed the initial claims made by Guthrie family members. He was being interviewed by NewsNation reporter Brian Entin, who has been on the ground covering the Guthrie case since the beginning.

Pima County police question Guthrie family’s statements

Cross told Entin that the Guthrie family “insisted” that Guthrie’s case could be “dropped.” He added that initially they tried to search for Guthrie, but when they didn’t find her nearby, coupled with the blood they found on the front porch, they thought it was “something else.”

Entin was quick to point out that long-standing records show the family had pressed for the case to be treated as more than just a “walk-off.” Reporters detailed how Guthrie family members said the octogenarian would not just walk away and that her health was failing.

Cross noted that this was not the “information” he received. He went on to say that he heard the Guthrie family believed “at first” that she had just walked away. People who shared the video noted that Savannah told Hoda Kotb, “From the beginning Annie and Tommy We said this is not a situation you are used to, someone walks away, she can’t walk away. ” She added that Camron immediately knew it was a ransom kidnapping.

However, Pima County police’s account appears to contradict this. Entin called this a “new development,” but noted that Sheriff Chris Nanos has ruled out any family members as suspects in the case. Still, questions about Anne and Tommaso’s claims come as the couple are already under intense scrutiny because they were among the last people to see Guthrie before she was taken away.

The elderly woman reportedly had dinner with Anne the night before and Tommaso dropped her off at a nearby home. Savannah defended her sister and brother-in-law, slamming the speculation surrounding them and saying they both loved Guthrie very much.
