A shocking claim has been made amid the Lindsay Clancy trial. A discussion on a Facebook group appeared to blame mold in the Clancy home for Lindsay killing her children Cora, Dawson, and Callan.
Lindsay and now ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, lived at 47 Summer St., Duxbury, Massachusetts, and Lindsay killed her children on January 24, 2023. The claims come as the trial has captured the attention of the nation and sparked numerous theories online. However, the outlandish nature of the claim drew a sharp retort from podcaster Katie Millerwho’s also wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller.

Mold to blame for Lindsay Clancy killing kids? Wild theory
The discussion took place in a group named Mold & Toxins: Healing Your Home and Body. Given that it’s a private group, the contents could not be independently verified.
A photo of the Clancy house was shared with the text “Thoughts on the Lindsay Clancy case. I’m sure their house was full of mold.”
Below this, one person commented “I think the husband did it. But mold could have a part in her mental health issues too.” Another agreed saying “100000% agree.” Yet another remarked “she was living in the basement I absolutely think mold contributed and her son had behavioral issues bingo.”
However, there’s no evidence of mold being present at the Clancy house. Miller herself appeared to junk this entire theory writing “The mold facebook group is now blaming MOLD for Lindsay Clancy murdering her three children. The Lindsay Clancy is consuming all of mom internet.”
Can mold cause a person to kill someone?
While mold is sometimes known to have an impact on a person’s mind, there’s no proof that it can lead to homicidal tendencies in a person. Healthline notes that mold can sometimes produce Mycotoxins which are toxic substances.
When breathed in, this can impact brain function, as per some research. It can result in symptoms like headaches, memory problems, sudden changes in mood, and difficulty in movement, Healthline noted.
Sometimes, people might suffer from ‘brain fog’ too, due to mold. The article also noted that mold can sometimes impact emotions, leading to anxiety, depression, irritability, and sudden changes in mood.
However, in Lindsay Clancy’s case, it has been made clear that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was heavily medicated at the time. No mention of mold has been made by the defense in attempting to argue about Lindsay’s actions when she took the lives of her children.
