Social media conflict breaks out between far-right activist Laura Loomer and former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard Loomer accused Gabbard of “pretending to be a Christian” over a Bible verse shared online. The controversy began after Gabbard posted a Bible verse onLoomer responded to the post with an online rant questioning Gabbard’s religious identity.“It’s really funny how Tulsi Gabbard pretends to be a Christian. If you remember, she did that at Charlie Kirk’s memorial too,” Loomer wrote on X.“Tulsi has been a Hindu all her life. But no one seems to know this. She should take it,” Loomer added.Loomer also shared a screenshot from Gabbard’s YouTube channel, showing highlights from her Hindu Vedic wedding. The video description reads: “Here are some highlights from Tulsi’s beautiful Hindu Vedic wedding on April 9, including the walk down the aisle and fire ceremony, ending with a hilarious yoga kirtan.”Gabbard is a Hindu and is recognized as the first Hindu member of Congress in the United States. She grew up in a multicultural family influenced by Hindu spirituality. She has often spoken publicly about how Hindu teachings have impacted her life and politics. She swore the parliamentary oath from the Bhagavad Gita and frequently discussed concepts such as karma, selfless service, spirituality and meditation during political campaigns and interviews.Loomer, meanwhile, is known for his hard-line far-right activism and support for American Christian nationalist, MAGA politics. Over the years, she has been criticized for inflammatory remarks about Islam and immigration. She has previously described Islam as a “cancer” and supported a ban on Muslim immigration, comments that prompted backlash and temporary bans from major social media platforms. Loomer has also been criticized for remarks about Indians and the H-1B visa program. She argued that foreign workers on H-1B visas accept lower wages, thereby undercutting American workers.During a visit to India earlier this year, Loomer apologized for some comments but remained opposed to the visa system.
