The SC said this was a “deliberate and planned” attempt to demoralize judicial officers and hinder them from discharging their duties. This cannot be tolerated, the statement said, directing the Election Commission to seek deployment of central forces to protect officials and their families in the state. The SC has also directed a central agency (CBI or NIA) to investigate the incident.The Supreme Court in its order recorded the harrowing experience of seven judicial officers, three of them women, who were “kidnapped” by anti-social elements and kept hostage till midnight.
