But unrelated to the Pedernales River, the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) announced Wednesday afternoon that they will be opening multiple gates at Wirtz Dam and Stark Dam later today. Water released from these two dams flows downstream through Marble Falls Lake and then into Lake Travis. Meteorologists warned that water levels could rise as much as 10 feet in the coming days, posing a significant risk of flooding. “Take immediate action to protect people and property that may be affected,” the LCRA said.

As rain continues in Pedernales and the Colorado River, residents and locals have shared photos of rising water heading toward Lake Travis. Many also shared views of Lake Travis, where water levels also continue to rise.
