New Delhi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday ordered a 15-day stay on the release of the film “Kerala Story 2: Beyond”, a day ahead of its original release date of February 27.The court held that prima facie it appeared that the censor board did not take this into consideration while granting certification to the film, PTI reported.
The interim order came after the court heard a petition challenging the censorship certificate of the film and seeking a stay on its release. Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas was considering the plea filed by Sreedev Namboothiri of Kannur and others. During the hearing on Tuesday, the court orally observed that the concerns of a section of people in Kerala over the release of the film cannot be ignored, especially since the filmmakers claimed that the film was based on true events and used “Kerala” in the title.“Kerala has harmony among different religions. But to describe it in this way, as if this is what is happening across Kerala, gives the wrong indication and may also inflame passions and that is where the review committee comes into play,” the court said.
