Prediction market company Kalshi said on Wednesday it has launched a new online platform called Midterms Hub to help people focus on the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. The new hub brings all important election updates in one place.

The platform covers major Senate, House and gubernatorial races across the United States USA. Users can see real-time forecast market odds, showing which candidates traders believe are more likely to win. It also includes polling data, campaign fundraising figures, past election results, political news and expert analysis in one easy-to-use platform.

How Kalsh Prediction Markets Work

According to Reuters, Kalshey said the price of his predictions was based on those willing to bet on the outcome of the election, rather than just answering polls. The company says this gives people a different way to understand elections, rather than just relying on traditional polls.

Kalshi CEO and co-founder Tarek Mansour said prediction markets are not driven by politics or party support, according to a company statement. He said people putting their money into what they think is going to happen can give people a clearer picture of the outcome of the election. Mansoor added that the new midterm exam center is designed to provide people with such information.

What the Midterm Election Center Shows

Kalsi believes that prediction markets can sometimes provide a better idea of election outcomes than polls because people risk real money on what they think will happen. In these markets, people buy and sell contracts based on the outcome of future events, including elections and sporting events. These markets have become even more popular since the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Kalshi was able to expand into election predictions after a 2024 U.S. court ruling allowed betting on federal election results. According to Reuters, the new midterm election center is built for a variety of users, including voters, journalists, political campaigns, policymakers and researchers who want to track election predictions.

The platform includes polling averages from VoteHub and data from Federal Election Commission. It also displays historical election results to help users compare the current campaign to previous elections.

Election data and live odds

This includes campaign news and political analysis so users can follow the latest developments in each race. Kalshi and users of rival prediction market Polymarket have already traded nearly $200 million on the results of the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, according to The Hill, citing an analysis by NBC News.

Although prediction markets are growing in popularity, they still face criticism and legal issues in some states. On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Elections Commission warned that residents who place bets on the elections in which they vote may be violating state law. The committee also warned that such activity could result in their votes being disqualified, The Hill reported.

Wisconsin issues warning on election betting

The commission said the growth of prediction markets and online gambling platforms made it necessary to remind voters of the rule. Karshi Strongly disagree with Wisconsin’s warning. Robert DeNault, Kalshi’s law enforcement director and legal counsel, said on X that threatening voters to participate in a legal transaction is unconstitutional and illegal. Denault said the Wisconsin Elections Commission should withdraw the guidance before a court forces it to do so.

Reuters pointed out that while prediction markets provide traders with real-time expectations, critics believe that prices can sometimes be affected by speculation or possible insider information. Kalshey is also hosting a launch event in Washington, D.C., where political strategists will be in attendance to provide live demonstrations of the new midterm exam centers.
