GoFundMe campaign launched for Jameson, the family dog who was killed Los Angeles Police Department Police at the Canoga Park apartment complex. Jeremiah Garcia was on a FaceTime call with his mother on Saturday when police responded to a report of a woman screaming in their home. Los Angeles Police Department officers arrived at the complex and spoke with Garcia’s mother, Marie Massey. The officer asked Garcia’s mother to protect the family’s two-year-old golden Saint Bernard dog, Jameson, because he was barking at them, NBC Los Angeles reported.
Jameson walked out of the apartment when Garcia’s mother briefly closed the door and reopened it. Police said the dog charged at an officer, causing them to shoot him.
“The next thing I knew, Jameson was lying on the ground. But Jameson didn’t show his teeth, he didn’t growl, he wasn’t aggressive, he didn’t bark. He just walked toward the police,” Marseille told Fox 11.

one online fund A campaign for the dog titled “Justice for Jameson” reads: “On June 13, 2026, our dog was shot and killed outside our home 10 minutes after celebrating the Knicks’ championship win. Jameson was 2 years old and he was taken from us a short time later. Anyone who met Jameson will tell you he was the sweetest boy in the world. Please help us raise funds to bring justice to Jameson and pay for cremation.”
The fundraiser aims to raise $120,000.
LAPD opens up about dog killing statement on social media.
“Police contacted the resident of the apartment; while speaking with the resident, she was approached by a large dog that was barking at officers,” the statement read. “The officer asked her to watch the dog and the resident immediately closed the door. She reopened the door and the dog left the apartment. Once outside the apartment, the dog charged at an officer, resulting in an officer-involved shooting (OIS).”
The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services responded to the scene and took custody of Jameson’s body, the Los Angeles Police Department said. It’s unclear if and when the family will get it back.
