Daystar Television Network founder Joni Lamb has died at the age of 65, it was confirmed on May 7, raising questions about who will be her successor. Lamb co-founded Daystar with her husband, Marcus Lamb, who passed away in 2021 from complications related to the coronavirus.

They said: “Prior to her recent back injury, Lamb had been dealing with serious health issues, which she chose to face head-on privately. The back injury exacerbated these challenges and resulted in a more serious medical condition than anyone anticipated. Despite the tireless efforts of her medical team and the prayers of many around the world, her condition worsened over the past few days.”

Joni pledged that even after her husband Marcus passes away, she will build the ministry in a way that will outlast them both, according to Jubileecast, Christian music portal. So, with Joni’s death, questions began to arise about who would succeed her. Much focus turns to Jonny’s second husband, Dr. Doug WeissShe got married in 2023 and has her three children – Jonathan, Rachel and Rebecca Lamb.
Joni Lamb Successor: Who Will Take Over as Daystar Founder?
Joni is the President of Daystar and, in addition to founding the company, hosts the Joni Table Talk. She ensured a smooth transition within the organization upon her death.
According to Jubileecast, Daystar confirmed that an executive team has been put in place to allow the show to go ahead as planned and to subsequently air the tribute. “We will continue to work with you to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation,” Morning Star said.
Technically, a successor has not been chosen as of this writing. The board is expected to provide more guidance on the leadership structure in the coming weeks. That drew attention to Wes, a television co-host, author and psychologist who made his first appearance as a guest on Morning Star. The two later tied the knot, and in the years since, Wes has also appeared as co-host of Morning Star with Joni.
It also turns the focus to the children – Rachel Lamb, Rebecca Lamb and Jonathan Lamb. While all three were active in ministry, Jonathan had a falling out after he accused Joni and Marcus of protecting a family member who they claimed sexually abused their daughter. Jonathan’s wife, susieclaiming he learned of Jonny’s death only much later. Given the existing rift, it seems unlikely that Jonathan’s name would be considered if Jonny’s children were considered heirs. However, this has not been confirmed yet.

According to reports, as of June 2025, Joni Table Talk has reached approximately 2.55 million households and has approximately 7 million viewers.
