New Delhi: India got off to a good start at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup in Granada, Spain, with shooters Palak and Mukesh Neravalli clinching gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.The Indian team took top honors with a world record score of 487.7 points, which is also a junior world record.Their performance in the qualifying rounds was also impressive.The Chinese combination of Yao Qianxun/Hu Kai won the silver medal with 484.8 points, and the Hungarian combination of Veronica Major/Akos Karoli-Nagy won the bronze medal with 414.9 points in the final.In the gold medal match, Palak scored 243.0 points while Mukesh scored 244.7 points.The Indian pair finished second in the qualifying stage, behind the Chinese pair who ranked first with 586 wins and 23 wins.The 18-year-old Palak first came to prominence at the 2023 Asian Games, where she won gold in the 10m air pistol individual event and a team silver. She also set an Asian Games record with 242.1 points, qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.Mukesh, meanwhile, is considered a rising star in Indian pistol shooting and is a junior world champion.
