Israeli military says tank fire attacked UN base in Lebanon, regrets the incident

The United Nations peacekeeping mission UNIFIL is based in southern Lebanon and monitors hostilities along the border with Israel. In a statement to Reuters, the Israeli military acknowledged that its forces were behind the incident but said they responded to anti-tank missile fire from Hezbollah, which moderately wounded two soldiers. “…the IDF regrets this incident and has expressed its apology to Ghana and the United Nations through appropriate channels,” the statement said.(This is a Reuters report)
