thousands of users Elon Musk’s Social media platform X, formerly twitterreported the outage to Down Detector, a platform that tracks such outages based on user reports.

The outage began around 4:26 pm (ET) on Sunday and peaked at around 4:56 pm, with approximately 10,000 users reporting issues with X. By 6:11 p.m. ET, the number of reports dropped to around 7,000.
Users complained on social media that while they were able to open X, posts on their timeline failed to load. According to Down Detector, 60% of issues are related to X’s feed/timeline. 29% of the issues were with the app and 9% with the website.

Although they were unable to view the timeline, some users who experienced the outage managed to post about it on X. This indicates that the timeline functionality is malfunctioning, while the rest seems to be working fine.
“X/Twitter is down because the timeline is empty,” one user wrote.
“Is X down?” one asked.
