Residents of Lake Elsinore, California, reported seeing smoke and dark skies, prompting many to take to social media to ask whether the city was burning.

“Has anyone seen the sky? It’s dark, almost brown and gray, like fire,” one resident wrote on Facebook.
Another added: “Is all this smoke from the Moreno Valley fire?”

There are currently no active wildfires or uncontrolled fires in Lake Elsinore.
According to CAL FIRE, two new incidents were reported on April 3:

Los Angeles County Crown Fire — 280 acres
There were no reports of fires in Lake Elsinore and there was no immediate threat. However, the smoke observed in the city may be wafting from nearby fires.

The Springs Fire broke out on Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley, California, around 11 a.m. ET on Friday. As of 4:35 p.m. ET, the fire had grown to approximately 1,500 acres and had the potential to grow to 5,000 acres. according to Incident Commandthe fire is moving northwest across the plains of Perris Lake.
Evacuation orders are in effect for the following areas:
MOE-0747, MOE-0507, MOE-0745, RVC-0826, RVC-0748, RVC-0825
Evacuation warnings have been issued for the following areas:
MOE-0746, MOE-0638, MOE-0637, MOE-0640, MOE-0506, MOE-0744, MOE-0504, MOE-0505, MOE-0641, MOE-0639
Road closures include:
Gilman Springs Road/Alessandro Avenue.
Alessandro Road/Redlands Avenue
Bridge Road/Gilman Springs Road
Ramona Highway/Davis Road

The Crown Fire broke out in Los Angeles County on Friday morning. According to incident command, the fire has spread to 280 acres and has a lower rate of spread and has the potential to reach 600 acres.
An evacuation order has been issued for the LAC-E087 area. An evacuation warning is in effect for zones LAC-E086 and LAC-E089.
