Overwatch appears to be down for thousands of users in the United Stateswith several players reporting the “Game Server Connection Failed” error. According to outage-tracking website Downdetectorreports began rising on Sunday afternoon, with the number of complaints continuing to climb into the evening.
How many reports have come in?
As of 6:18pm EDT on August 23, there were 1,417 reports of Overwatch being down, according to Downdetector data.

What problems are players facing?
For Overwatch players, a routine gaming session can quickly turn into a frustrating wait when the game refuses to connect, launch or complete a login attempt. Users pointing to server connection failure, launch issues and difficulties getting into the game.
As per Downdetector, “Most reported problems” breakdown separately showed 44 percent tied to server connection, 36 percent to game launch and 17 percent to login.
Recent player discussions on Blizzard’s Overwatch forums also describe failed connections, loading problems and login failures following updates and maintenance, as per Sunday Guardian.
