According to a self-proclaimed investigator, Nancy Guthrie may not be far from her home. 84-year-old TODAY host mother Savannah GuthrieShe was reported missing on February 1. Authorities believe she was taken the night before from her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona.

Three months later, Guthrie has still not been found. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office, which is handling the case, and the FBI, which is assisting, have also not released the names of any suspects to the public. During this time, Pima County police asked event version As proposed by the Guthrie family. The active law enforcement official told NewsNation reporter Brian Entin that as far as he knew, the Guthrie family initially insisted the octogenarian was gone. Police added that it was only later that they began to consider the possibility of a kidnapping.
Notably, this does not match what members of the Guthrie family said, and Entin, who has been on the ground in Tucson reporting on the case, relayed the same information to Pima County officials. Someone who shared the video on X pointed out that Savannah had talked about how her sister Anne Guthrie Brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni immediately said this was not a case of someone walking away. Savannah also said her brother Camron knew “immediately” it was a ransom kidnapping.
This accounting discrepancy early in the investigation sparked interest, and self-proclaimed investigator Jonathan Lee Riches, who had also been following the Guthrie case in Tucson, shared his account on X.
The Nancy Guthrie Case: According to a Self-Proclaimed Investigator
Riches, who goes by the online handle JLR, commented on the family’s comments online, writing: “How on earth did the Guthrie family think Nancy walked away in the first place when she could barely walk?”.
Notably, Entin also pointed this out, saying the family cited Guthrie’s advanced age and health as reasons for her not leaving. In a separate post, Jaguar Land Rover added: “No getaway vehicle was detected on surveillance, indicating Nancy Guthrie was close to home.”
Since Guthrie’s abduction, there has been speculation that she might be in Mexico, but nothing has emerged. Recently, evidence was discovered in Longmont, near Tucson. Guthrie’s fitness tracker has been found, but her whereabouts have still not been found.
Despite the apparent discrepancy in the statements, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos made it clear that members of the Guthrie family are not suspects in the case.
