Someone who shared the video on X pointed out that Savannah had talked about how her sister Anne Guthrie Brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni immediately said this was not a case of someone walking away. Savannah also said her brother Camron knew “immediately” it was a ransom kidnapping.

This accounting discrepancy early in the investigation sparked interest, and self-proclaimed investigator Jonathan Lee Riches, who had also been following the Guthrie case in Tucson, shared his account on X.

Riches, who goes by the online handle JLR, commented on the family’s comments online, writing: “How on earth did the Guthrie family think Nancy walked away in the first place when she could barely walk?”.

Notably, Entin also pointed this out, saying the family cited Guthrie’s advanced age and health as reasons for her not leaving. In a separate post, Jaguar Land Rover added: “No getaway vehicle was detected on surveillance, indicating Nancy Guthrie was close to home.”

Since Guthrie’s abduction, there has been speculation that she might be in Mexico, but nothing has emerged. Recently, evidence was discovered in Longmont, near Tucson. Guthrie’s fitness tracker has been found, but her whereabouts have still not been found.

Despite the apparent discrepancy in the statements, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos made it clear that members of the Guthrie family are not suspects in the case.
