“She was loving, she was kind, but she didn’t deserve to be treated like this,” said Rashunda McClendon, West’s mother.

McClendon told Channel 2’s Tom Jones that her daughter, a student at Mason Creek Middle School, should still be here.

“It has to stop. It has to stop. The violence has to stop,” she said.

McLendon said she is still trying to cope with the loss of her only child.

On March 5, West allegedly got into an argument on a school bus that eventually escalated into a physical altercation near her home. One of West’s friends ran to her home and alerted her mother, who arrived at the scene.

“She was lying on the ground,” a heartbroken McClendon recalled. “She wasn’t breathing.”

A girl at the scene told McLendon that West hit her first.

West was transferred from Tanner Medical Center to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, where he died. Her family is currently awaiting autopsy results.

“I’m angry. We have to teach our kids. I’m angry. What happened to love? We lost love, people. Teach your kids to love,” McClendon said.

It’s unclear what led to the fight.

The family also questioned why the other girl was allowed on the school bus since she reportedly did not live nearby and did not get off at the bus stop where the fight occurred.

Villarrica police said they will forward the findings to the district attorney for review.
