During the visit, Araghchi discussed with Pakistani leaders “in what direction and under what conditions the negotiations can proceed,” referring to the second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran.

Araghchi made the remarks when he arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Monday morning.

“We had good consultations with our friends in Pakistan. The visit was successful. We assessed the recent results and discussed in what direction and under what conditions the negotiations could continue,” Araghchi said in a video posted on his Telegram channel.

Araghchi said upon arrival that the talks between Iran and Pakistan held in Islamabad last week were “successful”.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Russian president planned to meet with the Iranian minister.

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, he called his visit to Pakistan a good opportunity to review developments related to the US-Israeli war against Iran and expressed his belief that “consultations and coordination between the two countries will be very important.”

The Iranian News Agency reported that Araghchi, who arrived in Russia from Pakistan, said that the visit was “very productive” and that he had “good consultations” with Pakistani officials on negotiations between Iran and the United States to end the war.

He said: “The negotiations have made progress. Although some progress was made in the previous rounds of negotiations, the negotiations failed to achieve the expected goals due to the US side’s practices, excessive demands and wrong practices. Therefore, it is necessary to consult with Pakistani friends to understand the latest situation.”

The first round of peace talks between Iran and the United States, held from April 11 to 12, failed to bring the expected results to all parties in the conflict.

Araghchi landed in Pakistan for the second time in three days on Sunday, where he met Army Chief of Staff Marshal Asim Munir before heading to Russia amid uncertainty over a second round of peace talks with the United States.

The Iranian minister left Islamabad on Saturday from Oman, where he held talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Said on security in the Strait of Hormuz and diplomatic efforts to end Iran’s conflict with the United States.

“As two coastal countries bordering the strait, it is natural that we should maintain close contact to safeguard our common interests and coordinate any actions related to it, especially since the interests of Iran and Oman are directly involved in this matter,” Araghchi said.
