Delhi Capitals did not have much time to recover after their humiliating defeat at the hands of Kings XI Punjab as they prepare to take on defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their next IPL 2026 match on Monday.Despite scoring 264, Delhi lost to Kings XI Punjab by 6 wickets while PBKS completed the highest successful chase success rate in IPL history. The result puts Washington, D.C., under pressure in the playoff race.They currently sit sixth in the standings and another loss could make their path to the playoffs even tougher.Delhi’s batting has been strong so far this season, but their bowling has been inconsistent.the highest order, by Kuala Lumpur Rahulgiving the team a quick start in many games. Nitish Rana and David Miller also helped keep the midfield scoring rate up.But what is more worrying is the bowling unit, especially after failing to defend 264 against Kings XI Punjab.Delhi is expected to make changes to their bowling attack against RCB.Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi is unlikely to feature in the match after suffering a head injury in the last match against Kings XI Punjab.Ngidi suffered a serious fall while trying to catch the ball and was taken off the field in an ambulance. He is currently in stable condition and has been discharged from the hospital.

Another setback for Delhi is the lack of Mitchell Stark.Starc has joined the Delhi Capitals squad but he is not yet available for selection and will only be available from early May.Among the substitutes, Kyle Jamieson and Dushmantha Chameera remain options as replacements for Lungi Ngidi.Derry now enter an important stage of the season and they cannot afford to make any more mistakes. This is a big opportunity for Royal Challengers Bangalore as well.RCB will be looking to settle the score in the reverse fixture and consolidate their position in the competition for the top two spots.
