Just as the tournament begins to take shape, the Gujarat Titans appear to have found their groove. After a slightly shaky start, they now look more stable, thanks in large part to Jos Buttler’s resurgence at the top.
Buttler’s aggressive intentions in the powerplay, coupled with Shubman Gill’s clinical performance, gave GT a solid foundation. Add in the ever-reliable Rashid Khan, and the Titans suddenly look like a balanced team.
However, questions remain about their intermediate order. If early wickets fall, the likes of Rahul Tewatia will need to step up under pressure. Complacency could prove costly in the face of a desperate KKR.
This race provides GT with the opportunity to consolidate its position. With conditions in Ahmedabad conducive to the batting, their in-form top order may yet again decide the terms.
