Indian veterans herding Bhuvneshwar Kumar Royal Challengers Bangalore are gearing up for a major milestone chennai super kings The 11th match of IPL 2026 will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. The veteran seamer needs just one more wicket to reach 200 IPL scalps, a target that only one bowler has achieved so far. Yuzvendra Chahal Still the only player to cross this milestone, taking 224 wickets in 176 matches, Bhuvneshwar’s impending feat becomes even more special as he could become the first fast bowler to achieve this feat. Over the years, Bhuvneshwar has changed his game drastically. Once primarily known for his swing with the new ball, he has evolved into a reliable option at the death as well. His use of variations like the knuckleball, combined with an accurate yorker, makes him a well-rounded T20 bowler who can bowl across phases. He played a low-key but crucial role in RCB’s title-winning run last season. although Josh Hazlewood Bhuvneshwar came into limelight as he went on to take 17 wickets in 14 matches. His impact was particularly evident in the latter stages of the innings when he picked up seven wickets, including a crucial one in the final against Kings XI Punjab. With Hazlewood unavailable at the start of the season, Bhuvneshwar emerged as the leader of RCB’s attack. He impressed in his first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, conceding just 31 runs in four overs while contributing in both the powerplay and death overs. He was also sharp in practice against CSK, troubling the batsmen with lengths, cuts and accurate yorkers. Bhuvneshwar’s IPL journey has been one of remarkable consistency. He holds the record for most wickets in the powerplay, taking 80 wickets at an economy rate of 6.52. At the time of death, he had taken 93 wickets, second only to Dwayne Bravo. His career in the league has gone through several stages, from limited opportunities in the early days with RCB to his breakthrough period with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he received back-to-back purple caps in 2016 and 2017. After experiencing a decline in form, he has made a strong comeback in recent seasons. Since 2023, Bhuvneshwar has rediscovered his rhythm, taking 45 wickets in 45 innings while effectively adapting to the growing demands of T20 cricket. As RCB prepares for a high-profile match against CSK, the spotlight will be on Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is just one wicket away from the historic landmark that could further cement his status as one of the best bowlers in the IPL.
