Iowa Tornado Warning: What to Know
The National Weather Service is under a warning for much of east-central Iowa on Wednesday. Johnson County in the south and Washington County in the north are the two areas most affected by Thursday’s warning.
Earlier, a tornado warning was issued in the afternoon for storms near parts of Keota, Richmond, Wellman, Kalona and Iowa City, which was in effect until approximately 4:45 pm Central Time. It has now expired.
Earlier in the afternoon, another tornado warning covered areas including Promethean City and Millerton, about 65 miles south of Des Moines.
Much of southern and eastern Iowa remains under a tornado watch into the evening,
