After months of absence, the United States began releasing visa slots for F-1 students, but those slots disappeared within minutes, leaving students panicked and anxious about whether they would be able to complete their studies before academic classes begin at U.S. schools and universities this fall. Like the H-1B, the F-1 student visa has been idle for several months since the social media audit was introduced in December 2025. Now, visa quotas are being released in batches and are being booked within minutes.According to the latest update, a large number of slots were released on May 15 for June-July dates, crucial for the fall season, but they disappeared immediately.
F-1 Flight Schedule Reservation Checklist
- Do not check the portal frequently as this will subject you to a 24 to 72 hour “access limit”
- Do not switch between Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad consultations as this will trigger instant session limits.
- Have everything ready in advance (DS-160, I-20, etc.) so you can book a quick reservation when a spot becomes available.
What happens during the F-1 visa interview?
Pro coach Pritesh Jagani explained the changes to the 2026 F-1 interview in his latest social media video. He said he spoke with visa officers and learned that the interviewer would use the first five minutes of the conversation to determine whether a student should get a visa. There are no right or wrong answers, but officials try to understand how interested students are in the programs and schools they choose, and whether they are simply trying to get into the United States somehow while someone else chooses the programs and schools on their behalf.
- Expect technical questions about courses, application processes and fees.
- The visa officer may ask you about your reasons for choosing a particular school/university to understand whether you have chosen it.
- They might check to see if you know what city your university is in and which airport you’re landing at – just to know how involved you are in the process.
