Indian who entered US on student visa accused of biting 3-year-old child and violently attacking his mother

“Atharva Vyas, a 24-year-old illegal immigrant from India, allegedly violently attacked a mother named Gabriella Perez and her three-year-old daughter in a San Antonio park on April 18,” U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) wrote on Instagram.

“Vyas allegedly even bit the toddler and knocked out two of her teeth. ICE gave a detainer to local law enforcement and asked them to turn Vyas over to ICE instead of releasing him into the community after he was brought to justice for his alleged crimes,” the agency added.

The arrest came after local media reported the incident. “On April 18, 2026, ICE filed a detainer requesting that San Antonio turn Vias over to ICE after he faced the U.S. justice system,” authorities said in a statement.

“This criminal illegal alien brutally bit this child, causing her to lose two teeth,” Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement. “This brutal attack on this woman and her three-year-old child in the park was completely avoidable.”

“The Biden administration should never have released this animal after it was apprehended for an attack. We are working with our partners in Texas to ensure this criminal illegal alien is never free again in an American community,” the Acting Assistant Secretary added.
