New Delhi: with Muhammad YunusAniruddha Das, India’s senior consular official in Sylhet, confirmed that steps were being taken to “fully resume” all Indian visa services from the power center in Dhaka.Aniruddha Roy on Thursday assured full cooperation to strengthen India-Bangladesh ties and said efforts were on to ease visa services.Addressing the Sylhet District Press Club, he said that medical and double-entry visas are currently being issued and steps are being taken to revive other categories, including travel visas.“Medical and double-entry visas have now been issued and steps are being taken to reinstate other categories, including travel visas,” BD News24 quoted him as saying.He said India-Bangladesh relations are based on mutual respect and common interests.“The relationship between India and Bangladesh is based on mutual respect and honor. The people of both countries will be the main stakeholders in a stable, positive, constructive, long-term and mutually beneficial relationship,” he said.He added that the two countries share cultural ties and common goals, and cooperation can help create new opportunities.“We should work together to transform geographical and cultural proximity, growing economic capabilities and future aspirations into new opportunities,” he said.He also said that journalists can play an important role in strengthening relations between the two countries.“Through objective reporting and constructive criticism, journalists can further solidify and strengthen this relationship,” he added.Bangladesh entered a new political phase a few days ago after Tariq Rahman took office as the country’s new prime minister. After the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s landslide victory and a two-thirds majority, Rahman invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi Attend his swearing-in ceremony.Prime Minister Modi congratulated Rahman on his party’s victory and invited him to visit India after taking oath.India-Bangladesh relations Sheikh HasinaExile in August 2024.
