Indian man pleads not guilty in crash that killed pregnant US teen and her unborn child

The agency added that Singer is being held on a $1 million bond. He was indicted on March 23 on “2 counts of involuntary manslaughter of Holmes and her unborn child,” “2 counts of felony reckless homicide,” “2 counts of felony reckless homicide,” “felony of vehicular assault,” and “felony of failure to comply with an officer’s order or signal.”

The agency added below that “the immigration detention we have placed on him will ensure that he will not be released into the community while he faces deportation proceedings following a judicial review…”

How did the accident happen?

According to WDTN , the accident occurred when an officer clocked a Range Rover Velar, which was allegedly traveling at 100 miles per hour. The driver of the Range Rover Velar, Tarsem Singh, allegedly accelerated without stopping, causing a head-on collision with another vehicle. During this time, Ashlee Holmes, a 17-year-old girl from Sydney who was a passenger in the Range Rover Velar, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was reportedly injured but still alert.

Singh, 33, who was driving a Range Rover Velar, was taken into custody and eventually transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight.

Judge Travis Freeman, who is presiding over the case, asked Singer if he was a U.S. citizen, the Daily Advocate reported. With the help of a translator, the defendant reportedly replied “no.”
