EAM S Jaishankar arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday as part of his official visit, where he will hold high-level meetings with the country’s leaders. The minister will visit the UAE on April 11-12 to review close cooperation and work towards further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.This visit is the second leg of his ongoing tour after Mauritius. Jaishankar previously attended the 9th Indian Ocean Conference in Mauritius and held discussions on bilateral relations. He plans to deliver a keynote speech at the conference and interact with colleagues from other participating countries on the sidelines.Jaishankar also highlighted India’s role in supporting the island nation’s energy needs and said discussions were underway to finalize an oil and gas supply deal. He pointed out that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East requires more reliable strategic partnerships, especially in the energy field.He also pointed to expanding clean energy cooperation and mentioned that an Indian public sector enterprise is involved in developing Mauritius’ first floating solar power project. He said the partnership between the two countries in the field of environmentally friendly solutions continues to grow.Jaishankar also handed over the last batch of electric buses to Mauritius, a move aimed at enhancing sustainable public transport while reducing carbon emissions.This ongoing visit, which includes engagements with Mauritius and the UAE, reflects India’s Neighborhood First policy, MAHASAGAR vision and broader commitment to the Global South.
